End Of An Era As Simon Muyanga Lutaaya Quits NBS TV To Prepare For 2021 General Elections

After more than 10 years in media, celebrated TV host Simon Muyanga Lutaaya is quitting media business to entirely focus on his future political career, with 2021 elections in sight.

Muyanga, the former MP aspirant Bulamongi Constituency has worked at the ‘Political command center for over a decade and occupied various positions including anchoring Amasengejje, a Luganda news bulletin that airs every day at 7 pm.

He has also been hosting popular shows like NBS Eagle and the most famous, One on One with Tamale Mirundi. Controversial Joseph Tamale Mirundi is former Press Secretary to the president.

Sir Simon Muyanga Lutaaya, as popularly called by his close buddies has also contributed greatly to the journalism industry both as a practitioner and lecturer.

“Muyanga has greatly contributed to the Industry [journalism]. He has mentored many journalists in the NBS newsroom, his positive impact in the Next media news room is definitely one that will always be remembered and will always be appreciative. We now wish him the best in his next step journey that he has chosen,” Next media’s CEO Kin Kariisa said of Lutaaya when contacted to confirm this story.

What Next For One on One with Tamale Mirundi?

TheSpy Uganda can confirm that the highly ranked Tuesday morning political talk show will now be hosted by seasoned investigative journalist Bashir Kazibwe Mbazira.

Mbazira, who is also president Uganda Journalists Association (UJA) already hosts ‘Ensi ne’byayo’, an investigative talk show with Dr.A  Anas Kaliisa on NBS Tv and ‘Inside Source’ on Bukedde FM.

With such experience, he has already exhibited a strong sense in current affairs shows, so hosting troublesome Tamala Mirundi might be a walk over since he has been in the funnel already.

As a matter of fact, Muyanga hosted his last show last Tuesday with Tamale and ‘The Eagle’ show in Sunday afternoon with NRM’s Rogers Mulindwa, DP’s Paul Luttamaguzi Ssemakula and FDC’s Harold Kaija.

Bashir also boasts of more than a decade experience having previously worked with Dr.Kaihura Nkuba’s Kampala African Radio (KARA Fm),Voice of Africa Radio, Ssuubi FM, Pearl FM, Bukedde FM and Ddoboozi newspaper.
