Kampala, Uganda: Eng. Godfrey Mutabazi, the Chief Executive Officer Uganda Communications commission, has dropped Pamela Ankunda as UCC’s Publicist.
Mutaabazi made a mini reshuffle a few days ago in the department of publicity as a way of salvaging the Commission’s name and image. In a message seen by SpyUganda,  Ankunda, who has been the UCC Public relations officer, has been dropped from her post and replaced by Ibrahim Bbosa. Ms Ankunda has since been appointed as the manager in charge of consumer services. Recently there was information circulating around social media that Ankunda was not happy  with her job, reason why she wanted to join the  National Information Technology Authority, in a hunt for greener pastures. UCC, as the body that regulates telecom companies, broadcast media, print and online publishers needed a fresh mind to handle all communication demands. During her tenure, Ankunda and her boss Eng.Mutabazi suspended 23 radio stations’ licenses for allegedly promoting witchcraft. She said the closed radio stations had been participating in promoting and advertising witchcraft content, thereby aiding and abetting electronic fraud.
The radio stations are: Metro FM, Nile FM, Kagadi Broadcasting Services, Emambya FM, Village Club FM, Radio Kitara, Packwach FM and Tropical FM.
Others are Apex FM, Bamboo FM, Ssebo FM, Eastern Voice FM, Eye FM, Victoria FM, RFM, Kiira FM, Tiger FM, Greater African Radio, Dana FM, Gold FM, Hits FM and Radio 5.
Before she joined UCC as head of publicity, she first worked at the Uganda Media Centre until 2013, before she joined ministry of Internal Affairs and later to UCC as PRO.
