PAP Global Awards 2022: Here Is Why Speaker Among Was Recognized

By Spy Uganda

The Pan African Pyramid on 26th August 2022 held its fifth edition of the Pan- African Pyramid Global Awards also commonly as PAP Global Awards at Fairway Hotel to celebrate achievements of their forefathers and recognize those who have hugely contributed to the growth of Pan Africanism globally.

Guess what! among those that were recognized by PAP for contributing to Pan Africanism is Uganda’s speaker Rt Hon Anita Annet Among who was handed the 1st Africa’s Youngest Female National Speaker award.

What Thrilled PAP To Recognize Among?

Rt Hon Anita Annet emboldens the true fruits and successes of African women emancipation struggles who refused to pity herself but rather wrestled her male contenders to raise to the top.

Tracking down her selfless active involvement in the struggles for the Rights of the African girl child and women emancipation in general, which struggles have finally molded her into Uganda’s and Africa’s 1st youngest female speaker of a national assembly is no way a mean achievement for women of Africa.

Although Anita joins the list of other current and former African women speakers of national assemblies, like María Teresa Efua Asangono (Equatorial Guinea), Lindiwe Dlamini (Eswatini), Lucie Milebou-Aubusson (Gabon), Mamonaheng Mokitimi (Lesotho), Catherine Gotani Hara (Malawi), Esperança Laurinda Francisco Nhiuane Bias (Mozambique), osiviwe Noluthando Mapisa-Nqakula (South Africa), Nelly Butete Kashumba Mutti (Zambia) and Rebbecca Alitwara Kadaga (Uganda) among others, Anita Among cuts her edge as the youngest female speaker ever to get to speakership of national assembly.

PAP family therefore found it befitting not only to recognize her efforts, but to also to use the same to encourage other women of Africa to stop categorizing themselves as ‘special interest groups’ but rather raise up to the occasion.
