India: Six people have been confirmed dead and many others injured after nine coaches of a Delhi-bound train derailed in the northeastern Indian state of Bihar Sunday morning.
According to eyewitnesses, the deadly accident occurred at 3:58 a.m. local time in Bihar’s Vaishali district. At the time of the incident   the train was reportedly running at full speed when it lost control and derailed. According to local media reports, rescue teams have responded to the site of the accident from Sonpur and Barauni. So far search and rescue operations are reportedly ongoing to rescue any survivors.
According to local authorities, the number of victims could increase since people are still reportedly trapped inside derailed coaches.  It is suspected that at least 24 train passengers were injured. Sources reveal that all passenger trains on this route have since  been canceled as  local authorities conduct investigations into what could have caused the accident.
