UYD Activist Flees Over Treason Charges

Kampala, Uganda: Yokaana Golooba, a Uganda Youth Democrat and aide of  People Power mobilizer Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine, is said to have fled after leanringg that he was being hunted for by security forces to face treason charges.

It is said that Golooba is currently in hiding in Canada or Europe where he fled after learning that he was being hunted down by security operatives because of his involvement in People Power activities and political protests across Kampala. According to sources, Golooba disappeared after being earmarked as one of the ringleaders of People Power protests that ravaged areas of Kamwokya, Bukoto and Ntinda last year, which were aimed at pressuring the police to release Bobi Wine,  Francis Zaake plus other politicians and activists who had been arrested over People Power protests. Following the protests, Golooba and several other youth were arrested and detained at Kira Road Police station, where they were charged with treason. Although many of those with whom he had been arrested disappeared, it is said Golooba managed to escape with a few other youth that had been arrested.

Since then, Golooba has been on the wanted list and an arrested warrant was issued against him. Ever since he learnt that security agents are hunting for him, Golooba has since gone into hiding, fearing arrest or the worst for his life, because of facing treason charges in Uganda.
