NEC FC won their second match of FUFA Big League after overcoming Police football club 2-0 at Buggolobi Coffee Grounds on Thursday. Victory means they are the only team to collect maximum points on match day 2 of the 2022/23 season.
Julius Magu Kazibwe broke the deadlock for the army side in the 58th minute thanks to the brilliant cross from Marvin Kavuma.
NEC had missed a penalty kick in the first half after team Captain Kavuma was brought down in the area but Ssekiranda couldn’t convert the ball into the net.
Captain Kavuma salvaged the win in the stoppage time to send NEC top of the FUFA Big League table at six points from two games.
Elsewhere, Kitara FC shared spoils 2-2 with Booma in a bragging rights derby encounter at Masindi stadium. The Uganda cranes striker Patrick Henry Kaddu who scored a hattrick in the opening match added to his tally from the spot in just four minutes into play after Paddy Muhumuza was fouled in the penalty area.
Booma levelled matters through skipper and captain Denis Omedi from a penalty spot in the 29th minute following a foul by Dudu Ramadhan on Anorld Sserunjogi in the box.
Kaddu put NEC back into the lead just two minutes into the second half before Sserunjogi equalised in the 61st minute and the game ended in stalemate. Kaddu is now the leading scorer of FUFA Big League with five goals in two games.
