Excitement filled motorsport fans at day one of Central Motor Club (CMC) 2022 Kaliro Sugar Rally that was held in Eastern Uganda. This came after a surprise appearance of senior driver Rajiv Ruparelia, who has been away from motorsport activities for a while.
Rajiv is the chairman board of trustees Central Motor Club (CMC) and also the managing director of the Speke group the major sponsor of CMC.
The appearance of Rajiv at different sections of the rally excited so many fans who were wondering why he was a spectator and not a driver.
Rajiv is one of Uganda’s formidable rally champions who have scooped a couple of competitions including; Federation of Motorsport Clubs of Uganda (FMU) 2019 Autocross championship in Kayunga district.
Also, in his first race, Rajiv came second after clocking a time of 10:44 in the Enduro Autocross Championship 2019 at Zion Estates in Ssisa. He received specialized training at the Rallystar Motorsport Academy in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Organized by Federation of Motorsport Clubs of Uganda (FMU) in conjunction with Central Motor Club, the rally is taking place between 11th and 13th November in the districts of Jinja, Iganga and Bugweri.
This is the 6th event on the FMU calendar and according to the clerk of the course, Alfred Mutanda, it will cover a total distance of 303 Kilometres with 134 KM competitive.
