Kampala Regional League (KRL) defending champions, Katwe United FC will today (wed.) afternoon play against Star Times Uganda Premier league side, Express FC in a practice match at Muteesa II Stadium Wankulukuku.
According to Katwe’s media officer, Kungu Al-mahadi Adam, the game is as a result of their invitation by Express and will use it to test their ability and readiness for the Big League where they are headed, should they continue with the winning pace in the KRL.
“We are excited and humbled by the invitation for this friendly game and hope to use it to gauge our ability with the top flight club, now that we are on of the KRL leg, with higher chances of acquiring a slot in the Uganda Big League next season,” he said in a statement.
Speaking on Tuesday evening, Katwe United’s tactician, Hassan Mubiru said all players are in a perfect condition for the game today.
“All the boys are motivated and ready for the game. We are not going to take chances, we are going to play against Express like any other competitive game,” he said.
Katwe United,owned by Makindye West MP, Allan Ssewanyana aka bwiino has played 20 games so far in the KRL and have 46 points, out of which, they have won 14 games, drawn 4 and lost only two.
Meanwhile, Express FC sit in the 9th position in the StartImes Uganda Premier League with 29 points from 23 games out of which they have won 7.
