AFCON U-20: Uganda Drawn Against Burkina Faso In Quarter Finals

After beating the hosts to secure a place in the quarter-finals of AFCON U-20 tournament ongoing in Mauritania on Saturday, the Uganda Hippos have been drawn against a West African opponent Burkina Faso who topped the group B with seven points.

Burkina Faso qualified after a 1-0 triumph against Namibia on Sunday. Their lead meant they had to face a second-placed of any group hence facing the lethal Hippos.

Uganda made their debut in the tournament with a win against Mozambique 2-0, lost to Cameroon and finally won against Mauritania 2-1. However, the opponents they will be playing (Burkina Faso) has been to the tournament four times.

Now Morley Byekwaso’s boys will focus on making history to add on their CECAFA U-20 Championships they won later last year with a spectacular performance to qualify for this ongoing tournament.

The other quarterfinal slots will be determined on Monday after the final games in group C that has Tanzania, Ghana, Morocco, and Gambia.

Cameroon who topped group A with maximum points will face the best third-placed team in either group B or C.

The Central African Republic who stunned Tunisia on Sunday will wait for the team that will finish second in Group C.

The final quarterfinal fixture will be between group C winners and the best third-placed team in either group A or B.
