His Highness Prince Karim Al-Hussaini Aga Khan IV, the 49th hereditary Imam of the Shia Ismaili Muslims, passed away peacefully in Lisbon on 4 February 2025 at the age of 88, surrounded by his loved ones. His death marks the end of an extraordinary life dedicated to spiritual leadership, global development, and the betterment of humanity.

Born on 13 December 1936 in Geneva, Switzerland, the Aga Khan succeeded his grandfather, Sir Sultan Mahomed Shah Aga Khan, as Imam of the Shia Ismaili Muslims in 1957 at the young age of 20.
