As of Wednesday, the United States had recorded 1,738 deaths from the Coronavirus in the past 24 hours, a lower toll than the day before, according to a running tally by Johns Hopkins University.
The new deaths bring the total number of COVID-19 fatalities in the US to 46,583 since the outbreak began there, by far the highest figures recorded by any country caught in the global pandemic.
This comes as President Donald Trump announced Wednesday he has partially suspended immigration to the United States, with the aim of keeping foreigners out of local jobs during the Coronavirus crisis.
“In order to protect our great American workers, I’ve just signed an executive order temporarily suspending immigration into the United States. This will ensure that unemployed Americans of all backgrounds will be first in line for jobs as our economy reopens,” he told a press conference.
The 60-day suspension hits some of the people applying for permanent residency, or green cards.

However, Dr Diana Kanzira, the Permanent Secretary of the MoH, said that the biggest problem they have is neighbouring countries failing to test the drivers for COVID-19.
“We cannot be an island of peace while our neighbours are being affected. The problem we at facing is that our neighbours don’t want to test the drivers. So what web have to do is take the testing machines the border points, test and wait 24 hours for the results.”
She added that “We know there shall be inconveniences, people shall have to stay in their cars but we have nothing to do
