A group of 4 unknown gunmen have Tuesday kidnapped an American national known as Kimbley Sue Endecott aged 35 years along with a Ugandan senior guide Jean Paul as they were on an evening drive along the Edward track, a section between Katoke gate and wilderness camp in queen Elizabeth National park.
It is said that they were three tourists and one Ugandan (driver/guide) moving in a motor vehicle registration no UAR 777E belonging to world frontiers safaris Uganda which was left parked and key taken by the kidnappers.
The eye witnesses said unknown gunmen put the tourists on gun point and grabbed two out of the four tourists. The two remaining tourists, an elderly couple of Martin Julius and wife contacted the camp manager who came to their rescue.
According to deputy police spokesperson Polly Namaye, the reports indicated that the kidnappers using the victim’s phone were demanding a ransom of USD 500,000 (Shs1.8B).
Namaye added that a team of elite squad from tourism police has been dispatched to rescue the victims. Police have also put water tight security on boarders of DR Congo and Uganda since the crime happened near the boarders.
Namaye called on the public to remain vigilant because kidnaps are everywhere , although the American embassy has been informed of its missing citizen, it has not yet commented about the matter.
