Information coming in from the Headquarters of the Orthodox Church in Africa at the Patriarchate of Alexandria and all Africa assigns His Eminence Archbishop Makarios Tillyrides of Nairobi as caretaker of the throne of the Holy Metropolis of Kampala, Uganda.

Archbishop Makarios was appointed by His Beatitude Pope and Patriarch Theodoros II of Alexandria immediately after the repose in the Lord of Metropolitan Jonah Lwanga. This news was announced by Rev. (www.beckerentandallergy.com) Fr. Kibuuka John Bbosa the Chairperson of Board of Trustees, Uganda Orthodox Church.
The Metropolitan is expected to be in Uganda early this week and is expected to preside over the burial arrangements for the deceased Metropolitan.

Archbishop Yona Lwanga, the Metropolitan of Kampala and all Uganda, in Central Africa under the Eastern Orthodox Church of Alexandria died last week.
Outspoken Lwanga, a member of the Inter-Religious Council of Uganda (IRCU) was 76 years old at the time of his death on Sunday, Sept 6, 2021.
Lwanga died in Athens, the Capital of Greece where he was reportedly being treated for Cancer.
