Kampala: The leader of National Unity Platform (NUP) dubbed Kyadondo East legislator Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu aka the ghetto gladiator Bobi Wine has once again brought Electoral Commission on the spotlight with a pile of questions all rotating on Museveni’s move to change his name allegedly to correspond to his academic credentials despite having been in leadership for over three decades.

Bobi Wine who seems to be having no kind words for Justice Byabakama the EC chairperson has released a statement asking what led Byabakama to swiftly unveil his academic credentials to the public and reject to unveil those of President Museveni who is also an aspirant battling with opposition to retain his seat.
According to the document dated October 6, 2020, Museveni did a deed poll and a legal deed to change his name from Yoweri Museveni to Yoweri Tibuhaburwa Museveni and Yoweri Kaguta Museveni to Yoweri Tibuhaburwa Kaguta Museveni.

“I formally and absolutely renounce and abandon the use of the names, Yoweri Museveni, Yoweri Tibuhaburwa Museveni and Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and assume and adopt my full name Yoweri Tibuhaburwa Kaguta Museveni,” reads the document.
Now Bobi Wine says, “It’s been close to two months now ever since the Electoral Commission quickly released my academic documents and refused to release the documents of Gen. Museveni!

The Commission came up with all sorts of excuses for not releasing Museveni’s papers but now we know why. In this Deed Poll, the man who has participated in the previous six elections purports to legally change his names for the first time. This brings critical questions.
How has he been dominating all these years? Was he ever legally nominated? Is he then in office legally? Did he actually possess the required documents?
The Electoral Commission which claims to be independent, why did they not release the documents and let Gen. Museveni sort out the name thing at that time?

The evidence is all over that we still live under military rule- a dictator in a suit! We must not waste any valuable time lying to ourselves that a system like this one will give us our freedom on a silver platter. We shall and must struggle for it.

It should be remembered that previously when lawyer Muwadda Nkunyinji petitioned Electoral Commission (EC) to verify Museveni’s credentials, EC said that his certified copies of academic papers which he used for nomination in the 2016 presidential elections do not require any further verification which a couple of political pundits drawn into loopholes asking why then the same Electoral Commission granted lawyer Mabirizi permission to verify those of Hon Kyagulanyi who was also nominated in 2016 for a Member of Parliament seat.
