Sheema: Jacklet Atuhaire Rwabukurukuru has warned voters in Sheema district to desist from indulging in divisive politics, saying that this hinders development and service delivery.

Atuhaire, who is the Sheema municipality Woman Member of Parliament, made these remarks on Sunday while participating in a poverty alleviation project in Karera ward, Sheema municipality, in which voters were trained on how to build energy saving stoves.

Atuhaire urged voters to stay away from divisive politics and work harder for a better future.

She said that “Since Uganda is entering a period of elections, most politicians and supporters will come with divisive words against their opponents. But I encourage you to stay away from divisive politics and first obtain the key items within the National Resistance Movement (NRM) Manifesto especially those opportunities within the Operation Wealth Creation model.”

She added that “What I need from you is one; put all your minds on working harder for the betterment of your future. Don’t listen to every word that comes your way. Don’t let politics divert you from the right track of development,. Even if you don’t want to vote for me, participate in my programs which can benefit you or your family.”

She advised voters to avoid bandwagon thinking while voting and to vote people who will transform their lives from poverty to wealth.

“Don’t vote somebody because he or she belongs to your religion, tribe or clan. Vote development, vote a leader whom you believe will bring for you developmental projects like these ones of stove making, shoe making, etc which will make you your own boss. Your vote is valuable democratically,” she explained.

She later promised to continue working with the local structures across all leagues and councils as a way of smoothly channelling government services to the grass root people.

Karera residents led by the area councillor Miriam Bikosa, thanked the legislator for remembering them and sharing the national cake with them.
