Kampala: City socialite Shanita Namuyimbwa aka Bad Black alias Masolo Queen has threatened to sue Government of Uganda and the Ministry of Health through the Attorney General, accusing them of refusing to pay her hundreds of millions of Shillings, after they reportedly hired her to sensitize sex workers to stay away from truck drivers as a way of preventing the spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19).
According to her lawyers of Musangala Advocates and Solicitors, Masolo Queen alleges that the Ministry of Health, through Precision Media LTD, hired her on April 29, 2020, to record a paid advert sensitizing the public about the dangers of COVID-19, and to encourage ladies, especially those residing in areas near the country’s borders, to avoid indulging with truck drivers, whom the government had found to be the most infected group with COVID-19.
Through Ronex Kisembo Tembo of Precision Media LTD, the team from the Ministry of Health working on the advert convinced Bad Black aka Masolo Queen that a meeting would be arranged between her and President Yoweri Museveni, during which she would discuss payments for the advert.
The recorded advert, which was translated into several languages, has since been used by the government in the fight against COVID-19 on all government social media platforms and has aired on all media stations and widely circulated via print and electronic media in Uganda as an advert sponsored by the Ministry of Health with support from UNICEF and World Health Organisation.
However, the lawyers contend that to date, Bad Black has neither met the President nor been paid for the advert, hence she complains of having been used by officials from the Ministry of Health, duped and tricked into recording an advert for the government under a false promise that a meeting would be arranged between her and the President.
The lawyers thus contend that Bad Black has instructed them to collect a sum of Shs500m (Uganda Shillings Five hundred Million) being consideration for the said advert and Shs50m (Uganda Shillings Fifty Million) being damages for inconveniences and mental anguish suffered by their client.
They have since given government and the other parties in the matter a 14-day ultimatum to either fulfill their demands or else face the music of the law!
