London, UK: Things are not good at all in the Church of Uganda and  as you read this, one of the bishops is stuck in the United Kingdom over lack of money to cater for his medical bills.

SpyUganda has learnt that the Assistant Bishop of the Diocese of Kampala, The Rt. Rev. Dr. Hannington Mutebi is ill. Mutebi is said to have been hospitalized at Kings College Hospital in London after being diagnosed with a rare form of leukemia which could not be managed in Uganda. It was then that he was advised to travel to the UK for treatment. Rev. Onesimus Asiimwe, of St. Francis Chapel, Makerere Chaplain has confirmed this sad development.  He noted that Mutebi’s health condition, according to his family members, is deteriorating, yet the family does not have enough money for the medical bills. “The family members reveal that the Bishop’s health is rapidly deteriorating have so far raised £30,000 out of the £100,000 that he requires to commence treatment. As some of you may know, the Assistant Bishop is very dear and special to St. Francis Chapel. He has ministered to us and dearly loves us,” part of Asiimwe’s statement to St. Franciscans reads.

He also added that “It is with this background that I appeal to you on behalf of the St. Francis Chapel Council to support the family to raise these funds through a collection this Sunday January 27, 2019 during all the services and through a contribution from the Chapel treasury with your blessing.” Asiimwe quoted Hebrews 13:16 which says, “Do not forget to do good and to help one another, because these are the sacrifices that please God.”
