Bishop Stuart University Students, MP Jacklet Rescue Sheema Town From Garbage

Sheema: Bishop Stuart University students who hail from Sheema district rescued residents of Kabwohe and Nyamufumura towns from garbage which had become a problem in both towns.

Through their association Sheema Bishop Stuart University Students Association, they carried out general cleaning in the above towns by sweeping both streets and ghettos, before collecting the garbage and burning it.

Jacklet Atuhaire Rwabukurukuru, the Woman Member of Parliament Sheema district, who is their coordinator said that; ” This was just a start. Next time we will reach in deep the villages and sensitise people about benefits of living in a clean and conducive environment.”

Annet Natukunda, the Town Clerk Sheema Central, praised the students for what they did and urged other institutions to learn from them, such that they can always do the same.

“If such activities can be done monthly, the Division’s budget will be reduced .” Natukunda said.

She added that “These students came at a time when these towns, especially Kabwohe, was full of garbage after the Town Clerk Dennis Mubangizi announced that the Division’s treasury is empty.”

Innocent Arinaitwe Nkubito, the chairman of the Association, said that their Association will not leave their model district shabby when they have all means to make it clean.
