Kampala: Makerere University has postponed the end of semester examinations for final year students due to the ongoing unrest and riots that broke out Wednesday after National Unity Platform (NUP) presidential candidate, Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine was arrested and detained at Nalufenya police station in Jinja allegedly for flaunting COVID-19 guidelines.

According to the university’s Academic Registrar, Namoah Masikye, the examinations that were slated for Friday 20th November and Saturday 21st November 2020 have been cancelled till further notice.

“After consultations with Makerere University Management, this is to inform all students and other stakeholders that the examinations scheduled for Friday 20th November and Saturday 21st November have been postponed,” the university’s statement reads.
The development comes after unrest around the country as scores demonstrate the incarceration of Bobi Wine that has seen many losing their lives while others critically injured.
