President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, the commander in-chief of the armed forces (CiC) and Ghetto president/gladiator, also Kyadondo East Member of Parliament Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine who doubles as the leader of People Power pressure group, have taken the war for supremacy from who will occupy Entebbe State House come 2021, to the ghetto!
Museveni’s ghetto campaign was launched on Saturday, when he officially appointed Catherine Kusasira as Presidential Adviser on Kampala Affairs and singer Mark Bugembe aka Buchaman as Presidential Envoy on Ghetto Affairs.
It should be noted that Buchaman, a former member of Bobi Wine’s Firebase crew, is his former Vice president of the ghetto leadership based in Kamwokya, a Kampala suburb. They were close buddies before they sharply disagreed on dividends sharing and since then Buchaman turned Bobi Wine’s biggest enemy in Uganda.
By recruiting him into the National Resistance Movement (NRM), Museveni hopes to use his influence to win the support of ghetto people since Bobi had already introduced him to his ‘constituency’ as his blue eyed boy who could take on the mantle in case….
Spy Uganda has learnt that Museveni unveiled his ghetto campaign with a huge banner of his portrait, inscribed with the words ‘M7 Man of Ghetto’ in Kibuye on Saturday. He thereafter did a tour of various ghettos in Katwe and Kibuye and promised to reach out to ghetto people all over Uganda in his subsequent political activities.
After launching the ghetto campaign, Museveni tweeted thus; “Launched the NRM empowerment office for youth living and working in the areas of Kibuye and Katwe. The office will be a registration point for SACCOs and will make it easy for us to support the youth in their different productive groups.”
However, in reaction to Museveni’s ghetto campaign, Bobi Wine, who regards Museveni as an ‘Intruder in the ghetto’, wrote thus on his social media;
“The folly of dictatorship! 34 years, he impoverished, marginalised & ignored the ghetto. Tired of indignity, the ghetto rose up to speak- led by the Ghetto President. He dismissed us.We persisted. Very scared & desperate, he now returns as ‘Man of Ghetto.’ The sheer lack of shame ”
Museveni recently described Bobi Wine as an enemy of Uganda during an interview with BBC’s Allan Kasujja for allegedly discouraging investors from investing in Uganda due to its unpredictable political terrain.
It should be remembered that Bobi, from the ghettos to Uganda’s parliament, already declared that he will be vying for the country’s highest office-The presidency come 2021, a race most political pundits say will be one to look out for.
Museveni, who has been in power for 33 years now, according inside sources in NRM, is likely to be their flag bearer for the fourth time.
