Body Of Metropolitan Jonah Lwanga Arrives In Uganda For Burial

Kampala: Yesterday, the body of Archbishop Yona Lwanga, now the former Metropolitan of Kampala and all Uganda, in Central Africa under the Eastern Orthodox Church of Alexandria finally arrived in Uganda and placed at St. Nicholas Cathedral so that the faithful can pay their respects.

The body arrived at Entebbe International Airport at 3:30 am in the presence of state and church executives.

The outspoken leader, Lwanga died in Athens, the Capital of Greece where he was reportedly being treated for Cancer, although this website can’t confirm now that he’s has died of the same.

His death comes five months after the death of Kampala Catholic  Archbishop Dr.Cyprian Kizito Lwanga, who was found dead in his house in Kampala.

Archbishop Lwanga was a known government critic who fought for the rights of the oppressed.

Meanwhile, the government of Uganda through the office of the Vice president announced that Lwanga will receive an official state funeral service.
