Mulago National Referral Hospital Executive Director Dr. Byarugaba Baterana has Tuesday been picked like a helpless grasshopper by no-nonsense State House Anti-Corruption Unit (Health Monitoring Unit) officials.
The reason for his arrest, according to our spy rotates around corruption at Mulago Hospital and also the rampant illegal human organ trade that has taken center stage in the count.
“Byarugaba needs to answer some questions on this illegal trade” said source on condition of anonymity.
Mortal mouthed Tamale Mirundi is on record to have been openly accusing Mulago Hospital as one of the Hospital mafias have been using for human organs trade.
On there other hand however, reports quoted State House Health Monitoring Unit head, Dr. Warren Naamara, as saying that the arrest was conducted to help in the follow-up on investigations around the miss/management of the hospital.
“Yes, we invited him to explain to us a few things,” reports quoted Dr. Naamara.
All these come weeks after the Unit reportedly conducted an audit into Mulago hospital following orders from President Museveni.
According to the audit, there has been improper accounting of funds at the hospital, forgery of accounting details by service providers of the hospital among others that have left hospital image badly tarnished.
