Mityana: Mubende High Court presided over by Judge Emmanuel Baguma has nullified the victory of National Unity Platform (NUP)’s Joyce Bagala Ntwantwa as the Women’s Representative for Mityana District.

The Court’s decision came after a petition by Judith Nabakooba, the Minister of Lands, Housing, and Urban Development, who came second in the election.

Nabakooba ran to court arguing that the elections was neither free nor fair. While talking to this reporter however, Bagala said she will appeal the ruling. “I’m definitely going to appeal,” Bagala told our reporter.

Bagala won with 64633 votes while Nabakooba came second with 48322 votes. Bagala won with a difference of 16311 votes.

Nabakooba a candidate for the ruling NRM also told court that her voters were threatened and her agents intimidated.

Nabakooba added that at the time of vote counting, her valid votes were counted among the invalid votes.
