The Governor Bank of Uganda, Prof. Emmanuel Tumusiime Mutebile is not in the country, no, the celebrated global economist has been flown to England for special medical attention. A close family member whispered to this reporter that the longest serving BoU Governor in the history of Uganda was flown out of the country on Wednesday last week for special medical attention after his health kept on deteriorating.
According to sources who preferred anonymity revealed that BoU hired a special jet to fly out the 2016 recipient of The Pan-African Pyramid Global Award (category-African economic Dev’t Icon) to London just few for more specialized medical attention to avert any ‘bad situation’.
“He has not been feeling well since 2017 that’s why he has someone to back him up from the behind. But we hope our boss will recovery very soon”, another source at BoU said.
The Governor was last seen in public early June at Serena while attending cryptocurrency seminar where president M7 was the Chief guest.
But even his health wasn’t up to standard as he challenged those who wanted to use new means of transacting businesses using Bitcoins while seated.
This is not the first time Prof Mutebile is taken abroad for medical treatment. In 2015, he was flown to South Africa for a special treatment. Currently the Governor is in United Kingdom for a thorough medical review and rest.
It’s quoted that Doctors on several times have advised the Governor to reduce on the rate of wine consumption and take a lot of time to rest.
Efforts to speak to BOU public relations department were futile as no one was readily available to speak on personal health of the Governor.
