Kampala: Rajiv Ruparelia, son to City Mogul Dr.Sudhir Ruparelia is nursing severe wounds after he was reportedly attached by counter terrorism police officers this morning as he was jogging around his father’s home in Kololo, a Kampala leafy area.
According to eye witness, a van with about seven police guards who were not in official Police uniform nor police patrol, reached at Rajiv along the road and jumped out of the van like commandos and the next thing that was heard were racial insults.
”When they reached at Rajiv,they jumped out of the van like commandos and next thing we heard were abuses…’You stupid Muyindi, you think this is India?” an eye witness told this reporter as having heard one officer saying.
“The next thing I saw was one of them using his gun butt to hit the Indian,whom I have now been made to understand that he is called Rajiv Ruparelia,” he added.
However according to Rajiv, he saw a speedy van running in a scaring way when he attempted to ask the driver to slow down not knowing there were several other officers in the car, they got out and started beating him.
“Immediately the dogs saw that i was being beaten badly by the officers with sticks and gun butts and others were pushing me in the process i was no longer able to hold my dogs i released them and they started running over them”
“My dog watcher came to help me and in the process he was also beaten badly and he is now in hospital. As they were leaving they knocked him with the car but they did not take his life”.
Rajiv added that his ribs are in a painful state and also feels some internal pain due to gun butt hitting.
By the time we filed this story,Rajiv had just left a Government Hospital in Nakawa Naguru where he had gone to be checked by Gov’t surgeon as investigations continue.
