The Ugandan Prime Minister Dr Ruhakana Rugunda has Friday morning been taken into self-isolation after he was reportedly exposed to contacts that tested positive for Coronavirus (COVID-19).
Although the Prime Minister himself tested negative, he took the decision to go into self-isolation after some of his contacts tested positive for COVID-19.
It should be noted that the Prime Minister was appointed
by President Yoweri Museveni in March this year to head the COVID-19 Response Task
Force, which is mandated with the task of combating the pandemic at all Front
Lines.
The shocking revelation was made by Premier Rugunda
himself who announced on tweeter thus; “Friends,
I have gone into self isolation after some of my contacts tested positive for
#COVID19. My own test result is negative, however, I have taken this decision
as a health recommended measure. (https://atelierdetroupe.com) #StaySafeUG”
However, by the time of filing this story neither the
Ministry of Health nor the Office of the Prime Minister had issued an official
statement about this developing but worrying matter.
We shall keep you updated as and when information
comes in.
