Kampala: TheSpy Uganda can confirm that Dr.Lawrance Muganga, the Vice-Chancellor of Jinja road based Victoria University who was brutally arrested yesterday by plain-clothed security operatives has been released and is currently at Speke Apartments opposite Hotel Africana taking his best cocktail milk-shake.
According to our sources, Muganga was released Friday night at around 9pm.
On Thursday, plain-clothed personnel raided Jinja road based Victoria University offices and ‘brutally’ arrested its Vice-Chancellor on allegations of espionage and illegal stay in the country, which The University management termed as ‘kidnap’ because the security who arrested their VC never introduced themselves to him, neither did they allow him to ask them who they were and where they were taking him. It was after several hours of misery that UPDF’s PRO Brig. Flavia Byekwaso issued a statement confirming that he was in their hands over ‘illegal stay’ and espionage allegations.
His lawyer Issac Ssemakadde and Frank Gashumba, in a press conference held on Friday at Serena Hotel scoffed at security organizations, particularly CMI operatives for branding a certain group of Ugandans as Rwanda’s spies in the country in order to make money. “CMI has accepted to be used to witch-hunt Ugandans of Rwandan origin by branding them spies in order to make money,” Gashumba revealed before swearing to die talking the truth.
