City businessman Sam Buchanan is even in deeper trouble after being with illegal possession of firearms and possession of government stores.
Buchanan was on Tuesday paraded before the Military Court Martial, where charges of illegally possessing a rifle and live ammunition belonging to the Uganda People Defence Forces were read out to him.
However, Buchanan denied the charges, telling court that he had been arrested on charges different from those read in court.
He thus pleaded with court to grant him bail or remand him at Luzira Prisons instead of Makindye barracks.
However, Lt. Gen. Andrew Gutti, the Court Martial Chairman rejected Buchanan’s requests and instead remanded him to Kigo prisons until September 3rd, 2019, when the matter will come up again for mention.
Buchanan was arrested on Friday with two others from his residence in Buziga, a city suburb, by Chieftaincy of Military (CMI) operatives.
Initially word was going around that he had bern arrested over allegations of getting involved in gold scams, through which several people both in Uganda and abroad lost billions of shillings.
