The Council of Bunyangabu district local government has tabled a proposed budget of Shs18.5Bn for the Financial Year 2020-2021.
This was revealed during the district council sitting on March 13, 2020, at Bunyangabu district council Chambers.
Notable among the big projects within this Financial Year is the Agricultural Cluster Development Project (ACDP), which intends to address rural economic transformation by largely supporting Agricultural production.
The ACDP project is funded by credit from the World Bank and supports five priority commodities namely; Rice, Beans, Maize, Cassava and coffee.
In Bunyangabu district, the project will focus on supporting maize and coffee farmers basically in the sub-counties of Rwimi, Kibiito, Kiyombya, Rwimi Town council, Kabonero and Kyamukube Town council. The project will also cover work on chokes on some selected roads.
According to Hon.Moses Ikagobya the District Speaker Bunyangabu,the program is coming in handy to support the district’s efforts to improve the livelihoods of the local population.
Hon. Kato Hussein, the Councillor representing Kibiito Town council in Bunyangabu district council saisy the program will raise farm productivity and marketable volumes of Agricultural commodities.
Mr. Peter Nsungwa Ruhweza, the Chief Administrative Officer Bunyangabu district, ACDP will increase access to critical farm inputs,access to markets and value addition and strengthen the quality of Agricultural commodities.
He thus asked staff to ensure successful implementation of the project so as to improve people’s livelihoods in Bunyangabu district.
