Following continuous reports of a business man sourcing hides in the districts of Namayingo and Busia for a lucrative market in Nigeria. The URA enforcement team in Busia embarked on strategies to net him.
Unknown of the watchful eye of the URA team, the culprits went ahead to load their merchandise, processed export documentation and headed to Busia under controlled surveillance.
By 3:30AM on Sunday, a truck registration number KCD 430Q/ ZE 0240 and its contents of 20 tons of sun-dried cow hides and skins were safely in the URA custody.
In another news, the enforcement team in Masaka impounded assorted cosmetics worth millions. They included 392 bombas of supermatch,182 bombas of oris,11 cartons of Afrocare jelly,12 cartons of family care jelly, 24 dozens of tiger head battery cells. Other items were;136 pieces of carolight,44 pieces of beauticon,75pieces of clairmen,6 pieces of cocopulp and 2 pieces of princess clair.
The goods were picked and delivered to the URA Masaka offices pending further interrogation.
