Naggalama: The police over the weekend arrested a businessman in Naggalama, Mukono district for allegedly threatening to grab land on gunpoint.
Patrick Onyango, the Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson, said residents reported Lincoln Mujuni to Naggalama Police Division for allegedly threatening to shoot them so as to grab their land. Onyango revealed that police responded to the allegations and arrested Mujuni who was found with an AK47 rifle.
“We investigated and arrested him. We are investigating the matter.”
Onyango added that “He claims he had a license. But we have learnt that after threatening people he rushed and renewed the license.”
However, according to police, the license for a private firearm is renewable annually.
According to Onyango, Mujuni is likely to be charged with threatening the public with a firearm should they find that he legally holds the gun.
That alone, police said would be enough for the cancellation of his license to own a private gun.
Police is currently handling Mujuni’s case alongside other security agencies. His case has been forwarded to Kampala East regional police headquarters based at Jinja Road police division.
