CAF Appoints Uganda’s Female Referee Lidya Tafesse For Ghana, Crested Cranes Battle

Four Ethiopian Referees have been given the nod to handle Ghana’s U20 World Cup Qualifiers match against the young Crested Cranes of Uganda set for Saturday January 22, 2022 at the St Mary Stadium, Kitende-Kampala.

The quartet will be led by experienced FIFA referee Lidya Tafesse Abebe and will be assisted by Wonshet Kasaye Abera(Assstant I), Birtukan Mamo(Assistant Referee II) with Tsehaynesh Abebe as the Fourth Official.

Margaret Anyango Omondi from Kenya will serve as the Match Commissioner while Sabelo Maphosa-Sibindi from Zimbabwe works as Referee Assessor.

James Sekajugo from Uganda takes up the role of the COVID 19 officer of the game.

This match is the penultimate hurdle for the Black Princesses’ bid to qualify for the FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup slated for Costa Rica later this year.

The return fixture in Ghana is scheduled for the Cape Coast Stadium.
