Masaka Catholic diocese has lost one of its inspiring and oldest nuns who had lived up 105 years old.
Sr Bonaventure Rosa Nambi, the long serving Sister and oldest nun in the congregation of Daughters of Mary Bwanda Convent, Masaka, died on Thursday.
On 8th January this year 2019, she celebrated her 80th anniversary as a Nun and on 10th October 2018 she celebrated hear 105th birthday in Bwanda.
In her statement during both celebrations Sr Nambi revealed that she was born on 10th, October 1913, at Katende Mawokota in Mpigi district by the late Salongo Maurisio Yakumanyanga and late Nalongo Maria Dorotia, who resided in Katende.
At the age of 12 was taken to her Aunt who was a Nun at Bwanda, who later inspired into dedicating her life to serving God.
Sr Nambi cautioned members of Daughters of Mary to serve God with one heart, noting that living long was because she trusted in God and served Him.
In her words on her 105th birthday she said;
“The origin of Religious belief is explicitly evangelical, rooted in the exemplary life of Jesus Christ and the Apostles. Therefore my beloved, befriend the Bible, the major source of religious life, you will be able to imitate Jesus Christ our dear Bridegroom, life will be easy”.
Her motto was “Because God has said” and was this that helped her to go wherever was sent or transferred to carry out service which shehad been called for.
She also revealed that her mother (Nalongo Maria Dorotia) wanted to become a nun but was unable, only proud to see her daughter consecrated her life to God.
Sr Noelin Namusoke, the Mother General of the congregation, applauded Sr Nambi for being an example of young people who inspired many to join them.
Sr Nambi will laid to rest tomorrow at Bwanda cemetery.
