Uganda U-23 national football team (Kobs) finished fifth at the 2021 CECAFA U-23 Challenge Cup tournament in Ethiopia.
Uganda beat Eritrea 2-1 in the second classification match played at the Bahir Dar International Stadium on Wednesday, 28th July.

Najib Yiga and Steven Mukwala scored a goal apiece in each half for Uganda in the 39th and 71st minutes respectively.
Yonatan Teketse found the consolation for Eritrea in the 89th minute.
Uganda thus ended the tournament unbeaten and in 5th position out of 9 teams that took part.

Uganda Kobs national team head coach Morley Byekwaso lauded the players for the effort and pointed to the key positives from the tournament.
‘We have learnt a lot from the tournament. Many players have been exposed and going forward garnered experience. We need to push away the chances created. For the KCCA and Express players going to the CECAFA Kagame cup, it has been extra preparations’ Byekwaso stated.
Meanwhile, the final will be between Tanzania and Burundi on Friday, 30th July 2021.

Burundi defeated Kenya 4-2 in post match penalties after a goal-less draw in normal time.
