His worship James Mawanda Eremye of Buganda Road Chief Magistrates court has urged the state to negotiate with Red Pepper Directors and Editors who are accused of publishing information prejudicial to national security in a way of saving time and resources.
Eremye feels that talks in such case would help the matter to be resolved so fast that Red pepper can officially open up to serve its usual readers.
“You two parties can go and talk so that reconciliation can arise as a way of finishing this case when it’s still early’ he said.
He advised that the longer this case drags on, the more financial impact it will have not only on Red Pepper staff but also their families.
But Pepper’s lead counsel Denis Nyombi opposed a longer adjournment requested by prosecution; noting that the Red Pepper offices are still under siege.
He requested the state to leave Redpepper’s offices so that work can resume as the negotiations are going on. The matter has been adjourned to 28th February.
The 5 directors and 3 editors are accused of disturbing the peace of President Museveni, Gen. Salim Saleh and Lt.Gen.Henry Tumukunde among other charges.
Meanwhile, the police force on Wed.ended its siege when they vacated the place.
