COVID-19: MoH Confirms 423 New Cases Raising Total Infections To 6,017

Kampala: Ministry of Health has confirmed that Uganda has registered 423 new COVID-19 cases from results tested on 18 September 2020, bringing the cumulative total confirmed cases of Ugandans to 6,017 and 2,581 recoveries.

2 new COVID-19 deaths from Kampala and Mpigi have also been confirmed bringing the total COVID-19 deaths to 63.

The breakdown is: Contacts and alerts (411): Moroto (166), Kampala (85), Butaleja (59), Mukono (27), Lira (14),Mbale (10),Wakiso (9), Luwero (6),Buikwe (5),Kisoro (4),Gulu (3),Bududa (5),Jinja (4),Kumi (3), Kanungu (1), Kapchorwa (4),Mpigi (1), Soroti (3),Mityana (1),Sironko (1).

Others are returnees (12): from Saudi Arabia (8), India (3), Jordan (1).

In the same vein, Ministry tested 306 samples from point of entry samples 2,014 from contacts and alerts making 2,320 total samples tested.

COVID-19 SUMMARY GLOBALLY

Since 31 December 2019 and as of 19 September 2020, 30 540 446 cases of COVID-19 (in accordance with the applied case definitions and testing strategies in the affected countries) have been reported, including 952 724 deaths.

Africa: 1 391 241 cases; the five countries reporting most cases are South Africa (657 627), Egypt (101 772), Morocco (97 264), Ethiopia (67 515) and Nigeria (56 956).

Asia: 9 177 777 cases; the five countries reporting most cases are India (5 308 014), Iran (416 198), Bangladesh (345 805), Saudi Arabia (328 720) and Iraq (311 690).

America: 15 496 955 cases; the five countries reporting most cases are United States (6 724 667), Brazil (4 495 183), Peru (756 412), Colombia (750 471) and Mexico (688 954).

Europe: 4 441 566 cases; the five countries reporting most cases are Russia (1 091 186), Spain (640 040), France (428 696), United Kingdom (385 936) and Italy (294 932).

Oceania: 32 211 cases; the five countries reporting most cases are Australia (26 861), Guam (2 045), New Zealand (1 460), French Polynesia (1 209) and Papua New Guinea (516).

Other: 696 cases have been reported from an international conveyance in Japan.

Africa: 33 623 deaths; the five countries reporting most deaths are South Africa (15 857), Egypt (5 733), Morocco (1 755), Algeria (1 659) and Nigeria (1 094).

Asia: 172 404 deaths; the five countries reporting most deaths are India (85 619), Iran (23 952), Indonesia (9 336), Iraq (8 408) and Turkey (7 377).

America: 528 504 deaths; the five countries reporting most deaths are United States (198 589), Brazil (135 793), Mexico (72 803), Peru (31 283) and Colombia (23 850).

Europe: 217 278 deaths; the five countries reporting most deaths are United Kingdom (41 732), Italy (35 668), France (31 249), Spain (30 495) and Russia (19 195).

Oceania: 908 deaths; the five countries reporting most deaths are Australia (837), Guam (34), New Zealand (25), Papua New Guinea (6) and Fiji (2).

Other: 7 deaths have been reported from an international conveyance in Japan.
