COVID-19: Kabarole District Task Force To Impose Mandatory Testing To General Public As Cases Surge

Kampala: Due to the increasing cases of COVID-19 in the country and within Toro sub region, the District Task Force of Kabarole district has proposed to have community sampling for COVID-19 tests as a way of strengthening active surveillance.

This has been revealed through a letter dated August 27, 2020 seen by TheSpy Uganda, issued by the Kabarole deputy RDC Mr Bandeeba Festus to Kabarole community urging them to engage in the program over the uniqueness of Fort Portal being a central business town hosting travellers from border districts that put it at a high risk.

The target groups to be tested include the District staff in all departments, the District Task Force members, health workers, UNRA staff, Ministry of works staff, Boda Bodas, Police staff, Army, Radio/TV staff.

Others are Market vendors, petrol station staff, Taxi and Bus Operators and any other willing individuals.

Letter Issued By Kabarole District Task Force Informing About Community Sampling.

“The purpose of this letter is to request all head of departments/City Town Clerk to mobilize your staff for COVID-19 Test starting on Monday 31 August 2020” Letter partially reads.

It adds that all those ready should submit their list to the District Health Office by end of tomorrow Friday for testing.
