Kampala: First Son Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba has warned former Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) presidential candidate and bush war-fighter Col (Rtd) Dr Kizza Besigye to stop attaching his wife Charlotte Kainerugaba to the rot cited in Ministry of Health during the fight against COVID-19.

The genesis of the verbal row was initiated by Col Besigye via his social media platforms when he posted exposing the rot in the Ministry of Health in collaboration with some first family members that allegedly channelled and shared among themselves ‘fight COVID-19’ money hence rapid transmission of the virus.

It is that background that ignited furious Dr Besigye in what he called COVID-19 Bonanza to tweet thus; “COVID19 bonanza by Uganda’s NRM/M7 Junta “royals” is as brazen as it’s repugnant. Among bonanza beneficiaries are Mrs Charlotte Keinerugaba (wife to Gen Muhoozi Keinerugaba) & her sister Mrs Ishta Muganga; both, being the daughters of Hon Sam Kutesa, Minister of Foreign Affairs.”

In the look of things, senior citizen and first son Muhoozi Kainerugaba was touched by Col Besigye’s tweet hence firing back a strong warning tweeting thus; “Colonel Besigye, were you a ‘Royal’ when you came with Mzee Museveni in 1985 to our home in Sweden? You are one of our elders, and we respect you as an elder. If you want to attack me, I’m right here. Leave my wife alone.”

However, all didn’t scare veteran politician as he went ahead to reveal that Charlotte’s alleged medical company Silverbacks pharmacy LTD was contracted to instal oxygen plants for Mulago and Entebbe Hospitals which was not implemented despite having scooped shillings 6.4 billion.

“Their company, Silverbacks Pharmacy LTD, was contracted to supply & instal oxygen plants for Mulago & Entebbe Hospitals at a cost of Shs 6.4bn. 100% of their invoice was paid by 30Jun2020, but by Sept, work hadn’t commenced, according to Covid19 Interventions Report of Oct 2020,” Besigye asserted.

He added, “As NRM/M7 Junta “royals” revel in Covid19 bonanza, Ugandans face terrible health &economic crisis; pupils under lockdown since March face uncertain future; most teachers unpaid since lockdown; small businesses decimated.”
