Hoima: The latest news reaching our desk indicates that residents of Hoima district are not happy with the decision made by IGP Martins Okoth Ochola to transfer the two troubled police officers to the new duty destinations and have therefore petitioned him and the minister of internal affairs to save them from notorious officers.

”This doesn’t logically add up and therefore I Ali Babi, I’m leading the people of Hoima district and Bunyoro as a whole to petition the Minister for Internal Affairs and the Inspector General of Police against the deployment of the embattled police officer called SP Alex Mwine Mukono in Hoima district as DPC,” Ali Babi petitioned.
Ali Babi claims that SP Alex Mwine has a track record of notorious acts contrary to the constitutional mandate of Uganda Police Force (UPF) which is to keep law and order and to secure the lives and property of the people.

He further stresses that on the 17th October 2020, he, together with SSP Bob Kagarura, the Wamala Regional Police Commander ordered an operation that saw Buganda’s Mbogo clan chiefs and the retired Bishop of Masaka diocese Emeritus John Baptist Kaggwa teargassed and violently dispersed in Magulu in Zigoti town, Mityana district where they had peacefully convened for thanksgiving ceremony for their leader Gajuule Kayiira Kasibante.
The incident prompted the leadership of the Buganda Kingdom led by the Prime Katikkiro Peter Mayiga to come out and strongly demanded disciplinary action against the two notorious police officers which Ochola failed to do instead made the above transfers.

Earlier on the 19th April 2020, the same SP Alex Mwine in his capacity as DPC Mityana commanded an operation that led to the violent arrest and torture of Hon. Francis Zaake the Mityana Municipality Member of Parliament.
Now, Ali Babi notes that the decision to transfer to Hoima a notorious and rejected police officer is considered as a direct insult to the people of Hoima district and Bunyoro as a whole, adding that what’s been rejected in Buganda can’t be good for Bunyoro either and it’s even extremely disturbing to note that the officer who has failed to manage a district with a municipality is being instead prompted to command a district with City status.
He adds that these two incidents among others clearly confirm that SP Alex Mwine is a very violent, unprofessional, biased and disrespectful officer not fit to serve at the level of a senior police officer, adding that he’s the opposite of what’s expected of a professional senior member of the UPF and more so in charge of command.
