By Samuel Opio

Embattled Makerere University researcher Dr Stella Nyanzi has been arrested and whisked to Kireka Police Station after she attempted to access her office at Makerere University.

This follows a court ruling that Makerere University should reinstate Dr Nyanzi to her position as a researcher  at Makerere Institute of Social Research (MISR).

TheSpy Uganda understands that Dr Nyanzi has been transferred from Wandegeya police station where she was held initially to Kireka police station where she is being detained.

In a social media post Dr Nyanzi on Thursday vowed to forcefully access her office the following on Friday (today).

According to a social media post, Dr Nyanzi said Makerere was directed to reinstate her but had since refused to honour the court decision.

Nyanzi posted on her social media.

Mr Isaac Ssemakadde, a human rights lawyer who also represents the embattled researcher confirmed the developments but said he was still following the matter.

Dr Stella Nyanzi was fired by Makerere University about two years back on orders of the chairman of the Appointments Board, after insulting the First Lady and education minister Janet Museveni.
