Mbale: The case of a man who claims to have been nailed in the jaw because of being a staunch National Resistance Movement (NRM) supporter in Mbale has taken a strange twist, after NRM leaders in the district refuted his allegations and branded him an impostor.

Pictures of Isaac Katoogo aka Ambassador wa Yesu, a local artiste and purported NRM supporter circulated on social media early this week.

In the said pictures, Katoogo, a resident of Kiteeso cell, in Namakwekwe ward in Northern division, is seen with a rusty nail that had been driven through his cheek. He is seen wearing a bloodied shirt.

However, many people especially the police in Mbale and NRM leaders have started identifying loopholes in Katoogo’s story and as a result of that, they have since handed him over to the Chieftaincy of Military Intelligence (CMI) for interrogation about how he got nailed in the mouth and by who.

John Robert Tukei, the Elgon Region Police Spokesperson revealed to our Spy that “We forwarded Katoogo to the headquarters of the Chieftaincy of Military Intelligence for further interrogations.”

He added that “Katoogo risks being charged with providing police with false information should his allegations turn out to be false.”

NRM leaders in Mbale have since disowned Katoogo, who claimed that he was nailed in the mouth by masked men who accused him of composing a song praising President Yoweri Museveni.

Muhamood Masaba, the Mbale District NRM Party Chairperson told journalists in the Mbale Resident District Commissioner’s office Wednesday that the NRM secretariat in Mbale doesn’t know Katoogo.

Barasa Ogajjo, the Mbale District Resident Commissioner also dismissed claims that Katoogo was nailed. He said a report from the police pathologist doesn’t show that there was any force used to drive a nail through the claimant’s cheek.

Katoogo’s attack however comes a few months after another man identified as Baker Kasumba was attacked by unknown goons in Kalerwe, a city suburb, and nailed a yellow Museveni beret he was wearing on the head in his hands.
