Drogba, Eto’o, Other African Football Legends Expected In Uganda For Charity Match

African football legends are set to gather in Uganda later this month for a friendly game against the country’s own legends.

The African legends are on invitation of the French Embassy in Uganda and will play against a select team of the Uganda Cranes legends at the gigantic Mandela National Stadium.

Stars like Samuel Eto’o, Didier Drogba, Yaya Toure and Nwanko Kanu will be part of the squad.

The game is one of the activities planned by the East African country to celebrate its friendship with France.

Other former players expected to be in Uganda for the game include El Hadji Diouf, Emmanuel Eboue, Didier Zokola, Taribo West, Mohammed Sissoko, Robert Kidiaba, Shabani Nonda, Geremie Njitap, Benjani Mwaruwari, Tresor Lomana Luar, Khalilou Fadiga, Olivier Kapo, Nkongolo Ilunga, Moustapha Kamara, Aliou Goloko, Allasane Ndour, Kossi Agassa, and Aboubakari Camara.

The Ugandan team will be made up of stars such as Geoffrey Massa, Ibrahim Mugisha, Simeone Masaba, Nestroy Kizito, Richard Malinga, Edward Kalungi, Dan Wagaluka, Vincent Kayizzi, Hakim Magumba, Patrick Ochan, Noah Babadi Kasule, Geoffrey Sserunkuma, Hassan Mubiru, Robert Ssentongo, Steven Bengo, and Brian Umony among others.

Other than the football match, other events planned for the week-long festivities include a rugby tournament, a military exhibition and a business forum.

Proceeds from the week-long activities will go towards building sports facilities for disadvantaged schools and communities.
