Kampala: Ugandan fashion designer Oscar Kampala has come a long way since his humble beginnings. In a recent appearance on Next Radio’s Brunch show hosted by Viana Indi, Oscar revealed that his big break came when Eddy Kenzo, a popular Ugandan musician, became his first celebrity client.
Oscar, who was still in his sixth form vacation at the time, received a call from Eddy Kenzo after the musician saw his work. This chance encounter opened doors for Oscar, who went on to style Jidenna, the face of suits at the time, creating six outfits for him during his stay in Uganda.
Oscar likened the experience of designing Jidenna to a footballer getting called to play with Lionel Messi, describing it as a huge blessing. Since then, he has worked with numerous Ugandan celebrities and expanded his reach to international stars like Kizz Daniel, Fireboy, and Adekunle Gold.
