Electoral Commission Yet To Clear Bobi Wine As Presidential Candidate Despite Announcing His Nomination Date

Kampala: At least by close of business on Sunday evening, The Electoral commission had not yet cleared 2021 Presidential hopeful Robert Ssentamu Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine.

Through its social media platforms, EC on Sunday said it had cleared three more candidates to vie for the country’s highest office, making it four so far, including the incumbent Yoweri Kaguta Museveni Tibuhaburwa (NRM), Rtd. Gen.Henry Tumukunde, Linda Nacy Kalembe and Fred Mwesigye, all independent candidates.

However, Museveni’s strongest challenger, Bobi Wine is yet to be cleared by the electoral body though he revealed last week that he would be nominated on November 3, 2020. Interesting to note though is that EC is silent about Bobi Wine’s declaration that he would be nominated on the above date, at least they’ve not said a thing.

By last week, EC had only cleared one candidate, Yoweri Museveni.

Our repeated calls to electoral body’s Ag. mouthpiece Paul Bukenya to comment on the developments proved futile as he couldn’t pick his known telephone numbers. 18 more candidates, including Bobi Wine, are yet to be cleared for nomination.
