Nakawa: Attorney General and senior counsel Hon. Fredrick Ruhindi has finally showed interests of returning to Parliament to represent his former constituency Nakawa Division come 2021 general elections.
Hon. Ruhindi, who represented the people of Nakawa for the last 12 years before he was taken over by Mike Kabaziguruka, said that his ambitions for the people of Nakawa had not been fully achieved because of groups that had existed in Nakawa during the time of elections in 2016.
During an interaction with Ruhindi today, he told our reporter that in his previous Manifesto, there are a number of national objectives and missions that were not concluded which I need execute.
He described his comeback as reliable and timely with much emphasis on Agriculture, Urban town development , creation of Employment opportunities, preservation of national water bodies and its boundaries, among others.
“Not only am I coming back to complete my agenda for the people of Nakawa but also due to public demand from the voters Nakawa Division. Several leaders from different levels have contacted me and requested me to represent them in parliament again,” Ruhindi noted.
Who Is Ruhindi?
More commonly known as Freddie or Fred Ruhindi, he is a Ugandan lawyer and politician. He was Attorney General of Uganda from March 1, 2015 to 2016. Between June 2, 2006 and February 15, 2015, he served as State Minister for Justice and Constitutional Affairs in the Ugandan Cabinet.
He was born on August 29, 1955. He attended Mbarara High School for his O-Level education, attaining the Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) in 1973. He studied at Ntare School for his A-Level studied and acquired the Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) in 1975. He holds a degree of Bachelor of Laws from Makerere University, a Diploma in Legal Practice from the Law Development Centre in Kampala, and a Masters of Laws from the University of Edinburgh.
For a period of eleven years, between 1981 until 1992, Ruhindi worked as a State Attorney, in the Ministry of Justice and Constitutional Affairs. He was then transferred to the Uganda Investment Authority, where he served as Corporation Secretary, from 1992 until 1999.
He entered politics in 2001 and was elected to parliament to represent Nakawa Division, Kampala District. He was re-elected in 2006 and 2011 but didn’t make it in the 2016 general election after being ousted by Mike Kabaziguruka.
