State House Entebbe: If you meet president Yoweri Museveni’s blue-eyed girl, Col. Edith Nakalema Asizua smiling from ear to ear, don’t mistake her to have gotten a pay raise, no. The satisfaction you read on her face derives from the fact that in just two years since the inception of State House Anti-Corruption Unit, which she heads, Nakalema actually managed to recover Shs 26B that had already been disbursed, and she forced the relevant individuals to cough it back into the Government coffers.
This unit to be headed by Lt. Col. Edith Nakalema is equipped with telephone and text messaging platforms that enable whistleblowers to pass on information on corruption anonymously (without revealing their identity). Our spy learnt that callers use the toll-free hotline 0800202500Â to report cases of corruption and through this initiative, her office was able to receive a total of 80,000 cases. Others write officially to her officer while others choose to walk in her office and formally report corruption cases.
List Of State House Anti Corruption Unit Cases
According to Data chanced on by our Spy, out of 80000 cases reported so far, 8,900 of these have been concluded, some at her office while others in court. There are those who agree to settle their disputes without allowing to escalate the matter to court, and she allows to mediate at her office, and when they fail, then she sends the file to court for further management, a source on condition of anonymity told our reporter.
299 suspects have been charged so far and 39 successfully convicted after her office intervention. After her numerous arrests in some Government Agencies, actually, some who used to report losses are now reporting profits!
For instance, after the arrest of top management of National Animal Genetic Resources Center and Data Bank (NAGRC &DB), revenue increased from Shs800m where it had stagnated for decades, or even lesser to now a whooping Shs3.66Billions in just month!
The no-nonsense determined Nakalema who only fears God and her commander, president Museveni has along the way roughed up senior Government officials and senior citizens of this banana republic, and she has no regrets, according to our sources. These include; 5 political leaders, including 2 MPs (Sam Bitangaro and Otukol Sam aka Okello Samuel), 179 Government Officials and 120 private individuals, some of whom are respectable figures in society, all totaling to 299.
Out of those, 36 are female (25 of them Government workers) and 163 male (179 government workers) that include among others 02 MPs, 02 Commissioners, 09 Secretaries, 06 CAOs, 02 RDCs & RCCs as simply summarized in the table below;

While launching the squad on 10th Dec, 2018, Museveni said he was very optimistic that ‘her girl’ [Nakalema] would do a good job because he was tired of corrupt officials in his government. “People were losing hope thinking that even if they report the corrupt nothing would be done at all. That’s why I created the State House Anti-Corruption Unit to deal with every corrupt individual without fear or favor,” he said.
When our spy at the state house yesterday asked one of our sources why Museveni among all army officers chose Nakalema moreover a lady to head such a serious and hot government office, our source responded; ”In fact before I answer that, allow me to ask Nakalema change names to ”Ms. Hard Work”, she never fails in anything…just like you hear her name Nakalema, never fail!!”
He added, ”she is someone that even the president must be saluting at just because of her hard work and transparency more so, when she is handling these government mafias spearheading corruption. I mean…that lady is just allergic to corruption.”
But Who Is This Ironic Lady Nakalema That Has Since Squeezed Plasma Out Of Corrupt Officials?
Colonel Edith Nakalema, is a Ugandan military officer, who graduated in August 2018 from the Higher Command and Staff Course at the Joint Services Command and Staff College, in Watchfield, Oxfordshire, United Kingdom, where she had been admitted in 2017.
She was born in Kashaari Village, Mbarara District in the Western Region of Uganda, to Midrace Sserwadda, a housewife and Eiyasafu Sserwadda, an Anglican parish priest. She joined the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) in 1999, where she rose to the rank of Major, in the “Special Forces Command”, under the command of Lieutenant general Kainerugaba.
Nakalema holds a Diploma in Business Studies, awarded by Makerere University Business School. She also holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Procurement and Logistics Management, obtained from Nkumba University.
Prior to her arrival at State House, Nakalema had worked in the finance department of the Special Forces Command (SFC). She was part of a team that established a working financial and accounting system at the SFC.
In 2014, she was appointed to be the personal private secretary (PPS) to the president of Uganda, on the recommendation of the SFC. In November 2016, her role was elevated to that of personal assistant to the president, specifically taking charge of the president’s daily itinerary. She was replaced as PPS, by Molly Kamukama, a civilian.
In June 2017, Nakalema was selected to attend senior military training in the United Kingdom. In December 2018, Nakalema was introduced at a public function as a Lieutenant Colonel, and head of the Presidential Anti-Corruption Unit, based at State House, in Kampala.
In April 2021, the Commander-in-Chief of the UPDF promoted a total of 1,393 military officers. Among those promoted was Edith Nakalema, who was promoted from Lieutenant Colonel to full Colonel.
