Kampala: The National Unity Platform party president Kyagulanyi Ssentamu Robert aka Bobi Wine yesterday shared photos of his brand-new armoured Toyota V8 Land cruiser that has so far left security operatives speechless due to it’s amazing security features.
However, the son of late Amos Kaguta Gen. Yoweri Kaguta Tibuhaburwa Museveni , president of the republic of Uganda and commander-in-chief of all the armed Forces in Uganda is not happy with the news and according to reports, he has directed a probe into the Uganda Revenue Authority customs clearance department to explain how the vehicle got into the country without the involvement of his most trusted security boys deployed within URA, yet the vehicle has security features that are somewhat,more or less a preserve of state security.
Sources have revealed that Museveni has asked the URA officials to investigate how the vehicle landed in Uganda without the knowledge of security personnel who are supposed inspect such vehicles for security purposes. “Aroo, Mzei wants to know how that car got into the country and what special interests the URA clearing team have with the owner (meaning Bobi Wine), that’s all he has asked for, and he wants this report in 24hrs,” a top security watchdog attached to president’s security on condition of anonymity told our reporter via WhatsApp chat this morning.
By law, it is strictly security agencies that are supposed to own armoured vehicles and machinery. Other private individuals and companies can only ship in such rides on the approval of the state security, they have to put in a request and it has to be cleared by the state, this source further explained.
The brand new V8 Landcruiser is reportedly a donation gifted from combined efforts from change seeking Ugandans in the diaspora community who wanted their endeared leader, Kyagulanyi to be more secure having survived gunshots and assassination attempts by armed forces during the concluded campaign trail.
