Express FC earned a hard-fought win away to Hoima based club Kitara at Kavumba Recreation Grounds in the Star-Times Uganda Premier League on Tuesday, thanks to Frank Kalanda’s lone goal.
Kalanda converted a penalty in the 65th minute after Kitara’s Patrick Mugume’s handball in the box following dangerous attacks from the red eagles that saw Kitara succumb to pressure.
The goalscorer had come in as a substitute in the 50th minute replacing forward George Ssenkaaba who was limped off seemingly injured.

George Ssenkaaba had made an attempt on the hosts’ goal in the 20th with a fine header but nothing yielded from it.
A win takes the Red Eagles back to the top of the league with a point ahead of Vipers which will be facing off with Bright Stars at St Mary’s Kitende on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) had to sweat to collect points away from UPDF FC at Bombo Military Barracks grounds with Steven Mukwala’s superb half volley in the 30th minute separating the two sides.
Mukwala slotted home just four minutes after Shafik Kagimu had failed to find the opener for the tax collectors from the edge of the box.

URA goalkeeper Alionzi Nafian was forced off in the 75th minute injured after a nasty collision with a UPDF player.
Benjamin Nyakojjo was named man of the match after a solid display and containing pressure from the hosts.
After the match, the tax collectors celebrated by showering the birthday boy and their Goalkeeper Nafian who had been stretched off fifteen minutes to the regulation time.
Elsewhere, Salim’s 68th-minute goal was enough to hand all three points to the Joggos at FUFA technical center, Njeru against Kyetume FC.
The first half had ended in a goalless stalemate with both sides fighting nail and tooth to find the net but all in vain.
Villa SC was reduced to ten-man by the center referee after sending off Harishen in the 76th minute but that did not help the hosts to find an equalizer ending the game 1-0 in favor of the visitors.

Custodian Meddie Kibirige had saved a penalty in the first half to keep the Joggos into the game.
Finally, MYDA shared spoils with Wakiso Giants who got a dying minutes equalizer.
Ahmed Saleh’s first-half brace was canceled by Tom Matsiko’s 72nd penalty spot and again his equalizer in the 92nd minute to give the purple sharks a point.
