At the time of his death, Gen. Gatdet was the commander of the South Sudan Liberation Army (SSLA), one of the rebel groups fighting President Salva Kirr and was also Chairman of South Sudan Opposition Alliance (SSOA). Sources in S. Sudan say he died after a suspicious heart attack in Sudanese capital Khartoum on Monday this week, although his sudden death has already raised eyebrows in the world’s youngest nation.   Gatdet played a key role in favour of Machar in the South Sudan civil war which broke out in December 2013, when he became the first Division commander to defect from SPLA to SPLA-IO. Dr. Riek Machar, the leader of SPLA-IO reportedly ordered his movement members to take charge of the transportation and the burial of Gen. Gatdet
