The Kole Woman Member of Parliament Judith Alyek Odongo is thanking her ancestors after surviving a deadly accident that occurred on Tuesday evening.
Beatrice Akello Okori, the Apac Resident District Commissioner, says Alyek sustained minor injuries and was admitted at Nightingale Medical Centre in Apac municipality after surviving the accident. She added that Alyek’s bodyguard and driver also escaped with minor injuries.
By the time she got involved in the accident Alyek was reportedly being driven along Masindi Port-Apac road, a few kilometers from Ibuje Trading. Preliminary information shows that the legislator was traveling in her Toyota Land Cruiser vehicle registration number UAY 907Y that was hit from behind by another vehicle. Eyewitnesses reveal that she was returning from her farm in Waitumba village in Ibuje Sub County, Apac district, heading to Kole district. Peter Nkulega, North Kyoga Regional Police Commander, said that “We haven’t found the vehicle that knocked the legislator’s vehicle, which is parked at Apac Central Police Station.” He added however that the police are still hunting for the errant driver and vehicle.
Bony Okello, the Kole North MP, told the press this morning that the legislator will be transferred to International Hospital Kampala for further management. Rtd Col. Charles Okello Engola, the State Minister for Defence, revealed that he dispatched a military chopper to airlift the legislator to Kampala. (adarsus.com)
